How does the service work?

You will be directed via a link provided to you by your doctor. Through the link you can take the eye exam. You need a smartphone and laptop or tablet to do the test. Follow all directions carefully. You can get help from a relative or direct caregiver.

What do I do with my results?

At the end of the test you will see your results in numbers. These results represent the measurement of your vision. These visual acuity refers to the sharpness of your eyesight. Record these results per eye and provide these results to your doctor. Your doctor will let you know the best way to provide these results.

Why do I need to fill out my personal information?

By providing us with some personal information, you will get a better indication of your eyesight, because the more data we have about you, the more likely you are to receive an accurate visual assessment.
In addition, the creation of an account allows easee to track the information entered in order to provide services that are legally required under GDPR, such as deletion/removal of data, data retrieval, account management and also serves security purposes.

What do I need so I can do the test?

The test is done on a laptop or computer using your smartphone as a remote. To get a reliable measurement, it is important that you have at least 3 meters of space from the screen. The instructions provided in the test will guide you to the correct distance.

Can anyone take the test?

The easee test is available for everyone who has received a referral from their doctor to complete the exam.

How does the test work?

You will do the test on your laptop or tablet using a smartphone as a remote control. To ensure that the outcome of the measurement is reliable, it’s important that the environment is suitable for the test. Most importantly, you have to be able to stand 3 meters away from the screen. By following the test instructions, you can easily measure the distance with your own footsteps. It is also possible to measure the distance by using a measuring tape.

Why am I asked to measure only one eye?

Follow the instructions of your doctor, which may include measuring only one eye. This depends on the indication of your doctor.

How do I read my visual acuity results?

It is important to share your results with your doctor.
The results represent the measurement of your visual acuity. Visual acuity indicates the sharpness or your vision. It refers to the ability to recognize signs on a standardized chart from a specific viewing distance. There are several ways to express the measured visual acuity; we use the decimal as well as the 20/20-system.

Is the easee eye test trustworthy?

Our technology was developed with the help of leading medical experts and was based on large medical studies. A clinical study by UMC Utrecht confirms the accuracy of the online eye measurement compared to traditional measurement methods. We are also officially certified as a CE class 1 medical device.

I made a mistake during the test, what should I do?

To get the best results you should try to do the test as honestly as possible and follow the instructions closely. If you are not sure whether you can see an image just select ‘I don’t know’.
Do not worry about making mistakes, there is no right or wrong answer. The test will still get you to the correct result. However, if you feel you have misunderstood the instructions or missed some of the important setup requirements, we recommend you to start over and take the test again.

Can easee advise me about the health of my eyes?

No, easee can’t advise you about the health of your eyes, but provides you with visual acuity results. If you have any complaints or questions about the health of your eyes, we advise you to consult a medical professional.

I cannot reset my password. When I try to set my password, or after a password reset I get:“This password reset token is invalid” or “This password reset token has expired”

When you request a new password, a secret token is generated. This token prevents other people from using your link. For safety, this token is only valid for 12 hours.
That means that if you try to use the link after 12 hours, you will see this message.
When you create an account, we generate the token for you. That is why you can get the message as well, when you did not request a password reset, but you have never set your password before. If you see this message, there is nothing wrong. Just request to reset your password again. Make sure to use the last emailed link, because only that one is valid.

Can I delete my account?

Of course you can. Although we’re sad to see you go, we’d like to thank you for trying easee out!
Just a small note, before you leave. At the beginning we send some e-mails to confirm your registration and further steps. Other than that, we will not send any newsletters or advertisements without your consent. Promise!
If you want to delete your account, you can do it yourself in just two steps. Log in to your easee account, and go to change personal details. On the next page you will find the option “Remove my account” below the “Save details” button.

Why do I need a bankcard or ID, and a chair?

We use the standard ISO/IEC 7810 ID-1 format to calibrate your screen in order to correctly size the optotypes during the exam. Most ID and bankcards are this standard, which measures 85.60 × 53.98 mm. We use the chair for your comfort during the exam, so that you can take the exam sitting down. This also contributes to a more accurate measurement, as you can relax and focus on the exam questions.
